Adult Program Nurse
Location: Maryland
About the Role:
The Adult Program Nurse supports the health and well-being of adults with intellectual disabilities in a community-based program setting. This role is responsible for overseeing health services, implementing care plans, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered nursing care. The nurse collaborates closely with direct support staff, families, and medical professionals to address each individual’s unique health needs. Compassion, patience, and strong advocacy are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor the health status of individuals in the program and respond to medical concerns promptly.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and applicable regulations.
Develop and maintain individualized healthcare plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Provide training and support to staff on health-related protocols, medication administration, and emergency response.
Ensure accurate documentation of medical records, medication logs, and health updates.
Attend medical appointments as needed and advocate on behalf of program participants.
Communicate effectively with families, guardians, and healthcare providers regarding the health of individuals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Maryland.
At least two years of nursing experience, preferably in developmental disabilities, mental health, or community health.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Familiarity with Maryland DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) regulations.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Comfort working in a team-oriented, community-based setting.

Ability to educate and train non-medical staff.
