Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) Training Specialist
Reports to: Director of Operations
Job Category: Hourly | Non-Exempt | Full-Time
Starting Salary: $24.00 to $30.00 per hour (DOE and certification)
Job Site: Foundry Front Range (Broomfield CO)
Job Summary:
The BHT Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating training and onboarding programs for BHTs across all residential and outpatient sites. This role ensures that new and existing staff meet the competency standards required by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration, Joint Commission, and internal NRT policies. The specialist supports a culture of learning, professional growth, and ethical care delivery within the milieu.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s in Behavioral Health, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of behavioral health or residential treatment experience required; prior training or supervisor experience strongly preferred.
- CAT certification.
- CPI or equivalent de-escalation training required, train-the-trainer preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Valid, non-restricted Colorado driver's license.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Current CPR certification or ability to gain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and update the BHT onboarding and continuing education curriculum, including modules on crisis intervention, boundaries, documentation, HIPAA, infection control, and trauma-informed care.
- Conduct new hire training sessions, shadowing coordination, and competency evaluations within the first 30 days of employment.
- Maintain training records and compliance documentation in alignment with BHA and JCAHO standards.
- Collaborate with HR and site leadership to track training completion and ensure corrective actions for noncompliance.
- Observe BHTs in the milieu to provide direct feedback, coaching, and skills-based reinforcement.
- Assist in developing and administering training materials, quizzes, and practical assessments.
- Support the rollout of new programs, devices, and policies.
- Coordinate and facilitate quarterly staff development days and in-service training sessions.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and safety meetings to identify training trends and risk mitigation needs.
- Promote a professional, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented environment consistent with organizational values.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to facility policies and procedures, State & Federal law, and accrediting agency regulations and standards.
- This job is primarily on-site with frequent interaction in residential milieu settings. Some evening or weekend training sessions may be required. Travel between NRT sites may occur occasionally.

- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
