Position
The Graves Accessioning Supervisor oversees the night shift (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.) and provides leadership, training, and operational oversight for the accessioning department. This role ensures efficient specimen processing, accuracy, and compliance with laboratory standards. The Graves Supervisor will serve as the primary point of contact for night operations and work closely with the Senior Accessioning Supervisor to maintain consistency across all shifts.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.
W2 hourly Team Members receive an 8% shift differential for hours worked between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., as well as for all hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the night shift accessioning team to ensure timely and accurate specimen receipt, labeling, and processing.
- Maintain quality and compliance with laboratory procedures, CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and turnaround times; proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth specimen handoff between shifts.
- Review and verify data entry accuracy in the Laboratory Information System (LIS/LIMS).
- Train and mentor new and existing team members on laboratory protocols, safety, and quality standards.
- Manage attendance, scheduling, and performance expectations for night shift personnel.
- Conduct regular audits, maintain documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Handle escalations, conflict resolution, and after-hours issues with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Collaborate with the Senior Accessioning Supervisor and leadership on process improvement projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in specimen processing or laboratory operations.
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or lead experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team during independent night operations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in specimen handling and data entry.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with data systems or LIS software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, medical technology, healthcare administration).
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS/LIMS).
- Working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Proven track record of improving workflow efficiency or implementing process enhancements.
- Leadership experience on an overnight or off-hours shift.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
All positions require time zone awareness, including the impact of daylight saving time, as we are a multi-state organization with teams and partners across different U.S. time zones. Clear communication and timely coordination are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIMS/LIS).
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Job Type: Full-time, Salary
Salary: $55,000–$70,000 annually
