ABOUT THIS POSITION
Reporting to the Residential Installation Manager, SunCommon Crew Leads are responsible for reviewing plan sets, ensuring trailer is stocked with appropriate materials for job, and running PV installations. This is a field based position that will be held responsible for on-site safety, quality and efficiency of installers and electricians on their team. The Crew Lead is responsible for communicating job flow to their colleagues in the office and explaining work scope to customers.
Safety - for our team, our customers, and their property - is our primary priority. The Crew Lead is expected to follow all safety protocols and keep up with advancements in PV and other relevant technologies.
The position requires a person who is flexible, eager to learn, and a skilled communicator. The Crew Lead will spend the majority of their time working on-site along with the installation crew they lead. Significant driving is part of the job, and a dedication to taking the best possible care of our customers and your colleagues is essential.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Crew Lead will:
- Work with staff to complete projects in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure high quality results.
- Communicate job status and estimated completion time on a daily basis with Project Management staff and customers via phone, email, CRM, or in-person.
- Provide on-site leadership for installers and electricians.
- Be the on-site liaison for customer questions.
- Support installations through direct on-the-ground work. Crew Leads lead while working alongside their teams. This includes interconnection work, racking and attachments, wire management, and modules on both roofs and ground mounts.
- Ensure that PV systems are installed in accordance with NEC and SunCommon standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions.
- Keep up-to-date on latest code and solar installation techniques, and apply new knowledge to the job.
- Maintain strict compliance with SunCommon safety standards.

Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- 2 or more years of solar installation experience, including both roofs and ground mounts is preferred
- NABCEP Installation Professional certification preferred.
- Electrical license or relevant experience with equipment layout, pipe runs, wiring, and interconnection preferred.
- Experience building teams to work collaboratively together to develop trust and accomplish tasks.
- Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Experience setting up monitoring for PV systems.
- Experience analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Knowledge of electrical code and standards.

- Computer Proficiency. Comfort with Microsoft Office suite, Google, and data management. Maintain accurate and timely records within Google Calendars and other systems.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving of your whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, balancing, walking, stooping, working on ladders at heights and handling of materials.
- Valid drivers license and flexibility to travel throughout our region, including long hours of driving.
