Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Payroll Administrator to manage the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple companies and provinces. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Workday and a solid understanding of Canadian payroll regulations, including the nuances of multi-provincial payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly/bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll for employees across multiple companies and provinces, some unionized.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with provincial payroll laws, taxes, benefits, and deductions.
  • Utilize Workday for payroll processing, ensuring accurate input of employee data, timekeeping, and compensation adjustments.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records in Workday.
  • Reconcile payroll discrepancies, including tax filings and benefits-related issues.
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions to the appropriate authorities.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Assist with the preparation and auditing of year-end reports and T4/T4A slips.
  • Stay up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices across all provinces.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll administration with multi-provincial payroll experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Workday payroll system.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and tax laws across multiple provinces.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other payroll-related software.
  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., PCP, CPM) is preferred.
