Position Summary:  

JCCA is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatrician to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care to children and adolescents involved in the child welfare system. Working in a community-based clinic setting, you’ll play a critical role in optimizing the physical and emotional health of children from birth through adolescence.

In this position, you will diagnose, treat, and prevent illness; provide immunizations; and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that every child receives coordinated, trauma-informed care. This is a unique opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with meaningful community impact.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Deliver holistic primary care to children and adolescents in foster care, ensuring their medical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, nurses, and health educators to provide coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Consult regularly with families, foster parents, and case planners regarding children’s health and wellness.
  • Provide medical supervision to assigned staff, including nurses, medical assistants, and trainees.
  • Make referrals to appropriate in-network specialists within each child’s managed care plan.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Ensure all care and treatment comply with regulations and guidelines from oversight agencies (NYC Administration for Children’s Services, NYS Office of Children and Family Services, etc.).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development focused on best practices in pediatric and trauma-informed care.
  • Take part in the 24-hour on-call rotation system.

Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents, particularly those impacted by trauma, abuse, or neglect.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across diverse, interdisciplinary teams.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of children in need.
  • Prior experience in the child welfare system or a community health setting preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Location:

  • The candidate will primarily see children in Bronx; occasionally may be asked to visit Brooklyn or Westchester residential campus

 

Hours:   35 hours per week (1 -2 late nights until 7PM)

Salary:  $200K - $220K depending on experience
