The Sergeant of Community Court Services (CCS-NCO) is responsible for the supervision of the Special Municipal Constables (SMC’s), the Jail Guard Supervisor, and SMC Jailers. This CCS-NCO also supervises the Court Liaison Constable and SMC Tele-bail officers. The CCS-NCO’s community profile is fulfilled by maintaining overall responsibility and supervision of the Front Desk and supervision of the Reserve Coordinator Constable and the Reserve Constable Program. The CCS-NCO is highly organized and has advanced knowledge of police reporting standards, disclosure and experienced working with Crown Counsel. They possess supervisory level skills in property management. They have natural mentorship skills, effectively build and maintain strong teams and liaise with community groups.


Job Description:
• Uniform position, working 10 hour shifts
• Manage and supervise the Jail Guard Supervisor, 8 full-time Jail Guards, full-time SMC’s and the auxiliary pool of SMC’s.
• Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of SMC’s, and oversee the Reserve Constable  Program
• Management and supervision of the front desk
• Manage and supervise the Tele-Bail portfolio
• Oversee the quality of RTCC’s and other Court documents and communicate major difficulties with NCO’s or OIC’s as appropriate
• Responsible for the oversight and referrals to Restorative Justice
• Provide oversight of the post-conviction DNA collection process
• Build and develop strong working relationships with VicPD Records Staff
• Provide training to officers on court / disclosure / property management

• Assist and Supervise officers returning to work or those members who may require temporary accommodation  


Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and train others, and effectively manage teams
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in patrol & jail operations
• Advanced understanding of the Crown / Police Disclosure MOU
• Advanced knowledge of exhibit and firearm management
• Advanced knowledge of Post Conviction DNA processes
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively under compressed timelines
• Community minded and experienced working with volunteers

• Trained or interest in working as part of VicPD's Reintegration Program
