DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Fire/EMS Chief, the Fire Marshal, performs a variety of technical and supervisory duties to provide a reasonable level of life safety and property protection from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions in new and existing buildings, structures and premises and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations. Leads and supervises the activities and operations of the Fire Prevention Division and mitigation of emergencies and disasters through proper planning, public education, and code enforcement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: An associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major coursework in fire science, fire administration, or related field experience is required. Bachelor's degree is highly desirable.
Experience: Five (5) years of related experience to demonstrate possession of the knowledge and abilities required to perform the duties. Licenses/Certifications: Utah State Driver's License, current Utah State Firefighter I and II Certifications; Utah State Fire Officer I Certification, Utah State Fire Investigator Certification or equivalent, ICC Fire Inspector or equivalent required within one year of hire. Must be CPR Certified to Health Care Provider Level. EMT-Advanced Certification is highly desired.
SALARY: $35.24 to $56.39 (Salary Range) per hour depending on experience plus a comprehensive benefits package (health insurance, dental insurance, Utah State Retirements, life insurance, vacation time, sick time, etc.) Typical Hiring Range: $35.24 per hour to $45.82 per hour.
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week M-TH: 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
