CASES is a New York City agency working at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create community success opportunities. The Clinic programs division consists of an array of services for justice-involved individuals and community members with mental health diagnoses and serious mental illness; The Nathaniel Clinic provides OMH-licensed Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Recovery Services to adolescents and adults, with a focus on providing care to those involved in the criminal legal system.


CASES is seeking a Medical Scheduler who is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The Medical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing schedules, and ensuring smooth and efficient patient flow. They will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to provide excellent customer service and maintain a well-organized scheduling system.  

 

Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday – Friday from 11:00AM - 7:00 PM

 

Salary: The salary range for this role is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

 

Location Address: 2090 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard, New York, NY 10027. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation. 

 

Workplace Flexibility: In-Person - Staff roles designated as fully in-person are eligible for in-person workplace differential pay


What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Ensure the lobby maintains a welcoming and safe environment by demonstrating excellent customer service along with person-centered, trauma-informed care
  • Collaborating with other CASES programs to ensure proper care and shared experiences of all CASES clients entering the lobby
  • Manage and support the coordination and processing of clinical e-referrals and walk-ins ensuring the appropriate level of service is met
  • Maintain centralized scheduling ensuring up-to-date staff schedules as well as outreaching cancelled/missed appointments for rescheduling
  • Uploading client and clinic files to electronic databases in addition to photocopying, scanning, faxing, mailing other documents
  • Monitoring staff and client supplies and communicating the need
  • Verify status of insurance using EPACES and Managed Care Organization portals routinely
  • Support with crisis intervention and de-escalation response to ensure health and safety and effective responses by internal and external first responders and adherence to crisis/emergency policies
  • Take meeting minutes ensuring meeting action items are documented and executed by responsible staff
  • Other duties as indicated by supervisor or other clinic leadership.

 

What We Are Looking For: 

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritize appropriately
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, including excellent phone demeanor and direct communication skills with clients, family members, government agencies, and agency staff
  • Excellent diplomacy, poise, and social skills to interact with clients facing a range of problems including serious mental illness, substance abuse, arrest and incarceration, and crisis and stress
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, referral sources, criminal

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Previous administrative experience
  • Fluency in Spanish
