Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) at Hillside plays a vital role in providing high-quality physical and mental health care to children and adolescents in a residential treatment setting. The RN is responsible for implementing and maintaining standards of nursing care in accordance with organizational policies, state regulations, and each client’s individualized treatment plan. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical skills, compassion, sound judgment, and a commitment to the mission of Hillside in fostering healing and growth for youth and families.
Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities

Implement and maintain standards of residential nursing care in compliance with Hillside and State of Georgia regulations.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care based on individualized treatment plans.

Administer medications and medical treatments per physician orders and monitor client responses.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation in clinical records, pharmacy logs, and electronic health systems (e.g., Avatar).

Assess and document physical health, hygiene, and injuries; make appropriate referrals or interventions as needed.

Report all suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with organizational policy and state law.

Communicate effectively with physicians, pharmacies, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

Provide health education to clients and families to promote wellness and understanding of care plans.

Monitor and document client status during emergency safety interventions and ensure completion of health assessments.

Participate in professional development and contribute to staff training initiatives.

Adhere to Hillside’s Accessibility Plan by promoting an inclusive and barrier-free environment for clients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications
-
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.

Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia.

Experience: Prior experience in pediatric, psychiatric, or residential care settings preferred.

Certifications: CPR and First Aid required; additional crisis intervention training (e.g., ESI) preferred.

Skills: Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills; proficiency in electronic health records.
Work Environment

Residential treatment facility serving children and adolescents.

May involve exposure to emotionally charged situations and behavioral challenges.

Requires flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
-
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Current RN license to practice in the State of Georgia.

Trained and/or certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and able to apply DBT techniques with children and families.

2–3 years of nursing experience preferred, ideally in pediatric, psychiatric, or residential settings (school work-study programs may apply).
Physical & Miscellaneous Requirements

Must pass an annual physical examination.

Able to lift 50 lbs. with assistance and remain alert in emergency situations.

Must have no felony or misdemeanor convictions.
-
Must follow OSHA and safety regulations; exposure to bodily fluids may occur.
