JOB TITLE: Nordic Center Lead 

DIVISION: Nordic Center 

REPORTS TO: Nordic Center Manager 

LOCATION: Nordic Center 

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time/Seasonal/Hourly 

 

POSITION:  

The Nordic Center Lead will support the Manager in managing daily operations for the Nordic Center and team, ensuring a safe, fun, and educational environment for attendants, instructors and guests. Lead will act as a Manager on Duty during the absence of the Nordic Center Manager.  

The Nordic Center Lead ill assist Nordic Center Manager with staff scheduling, staff and guest issues; help with staff training 

Must have a strong understanding of teamwork and effective communication with peers and Manager 

 

 

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Provide an exceptional guest experience  

  • Must be able to maintain accurate transactions 

  • Ability to work outside in all winter conditions 

  • Strong communication and leadership skills 

  • Strong understanding of ski resort operations 

  • Support and follow Solitude Mountain Resort policies and procedures. 

  • Able to hike, snowshoe, Nordic ski,  

  • Has experience of/or ability to learn to sell products in Nordic Retail Shop  

  • Has experience of/or ability to learn to distribute Nordic ski and snowshoe rental equipment and train attendants and instructors 

  • Basic math skills 

  • Willing to work weekends and holidays and some evenings during the ski season. 

  • Responsible for opening and closing Nordic Center facility on time 

 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

             

  • Answer questions about the resort hours of operation, Events, Nordic Programs, terrain, snow, weather and grooming conditions 

  • Making sure the current grooming report is posted on Nordic Center board, Solitude Website as well as TUNA webpage 

  • Answer incoming phone calls and check voice messages regularly  

  • Assists in the training and evaluating Nordic Center staff 

  • Shoveling and snow removal. Maintaining clear and safe entrance to the building and to the trails. 

  • Maintaining and regularly checking trail conditions for safety and proper trail marking 

  • Maintaining fencing around the Nordic center building, 

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment (vacuum, shovel, toilet, etc.) 

  • Conducts inventories and help maintain rental and retail and Food and Beverage inventory 

  • Provide a friendly professional demeanor, acknowledge guests with a smile 

  • Conduct group and private cross-country ski lessons as well as snowshoe tours that help guests of all ages and ability levels 

  • Correctly follow all opening and closing procedures and train the attendants to do the same.  

  • Assist with events and programs 

  • Assists with the setup and tear down of the building  

  • Sell tickets, rental equipment, lessons and clinics at correct rate in a courteous and friendly manner 

  • Be conscious of safety at all times while completing job duties and responsibilities 

  • Notify Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, and property damage, any shortage in retail/rental merchandise, any unsafe situations or conditions as soon as they occur  

  • Be able to wax rental skis as well as customer equipment
