Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible to 

- support Quality Management system by collaborating with other employees, suppliers and customers on 

a) resolution and prevention of recurrence of quality issues in mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronics and software product, through investigation of nonconformities, root cause analysis and action planning,

b) implementation of changes and safety, quality, and productivity improvement plans and 

c) achievement of quality objectives,

- provide training and enforce compliance with requirements. 

- utilize quality core tools and enforce the quality management principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • support and perform visual and measurement inspections of products and processes,
  • identify, document and communicate information concerning nonconformities and quality issues,
  • timely preparation of quality documents and records,
  • utilization of quality tools such as Pareto, SPC, GR&R and DOE,
  • act as a customer liaison and lead resolution of customer complaints,
  • collect, organize, analyze and present findings and data,
  • oversee and assist suppliers with interpretation of quality requirements, investigation, root cause analysis and planning and implementation of corrections and corrective actions, while leading cross-functional teams, working independently and in a group setting,
  • interfaces customer contacts to clarify customer requirements and close customer complaints,
  • evaluate and assist in development of product and process inspection criteria, key characteristics, inspection and sampling plans,
  • evaluate compliance of products and processes,
  • represent Quality department in pre- and post-production launch reviews,
  • conduct internal audits and support management reviews 
  • propose action plans for resolution and prevention of nonconformities,
  • process and approve product/process and document change requests,
  • read drawings and schematics to evaluate correct application of GD&T, proper use of process and material specifications and designation of key characteristics for inspection,
  • support measurement and analysis of KPI scores,
  • works with and/or lead cross-functional teams in resolution of product and process nonconformities.
  • reinforce product and workplace safety requirements 
  • identify and reports quality issues.
  • follow applicable procedures and work instructions, use forms to create quality records,
  • facilitate control of documents files and records,
  • support other Uniloy plants in implementation of initiatives of the Tecumseh, MI headquarters.
  • perform other professional duties assigned by Quality Manager.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited academic institution,
  • 3 years of experience working as Quality Engineer at ISO 9001 certified company.
  • Advanced user experience in MS Office applications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Academic studies in mechanical, electromechanical, mechatronics and electronics engineering,
  • ASQ CQE and other certifications,
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification,
  • Studies in and/or knowledge of GD&T, AIAG core tools and Food Safety, leading Kaizen events.
  • experience in management of supplier quality affairs, including CAPA plans, scorecards and supplier audits,
  • experience running or programming a CMM and in 
  • experience working in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulated environment,
  • experience using ERP systems (i.e.: Epicor, 3DX, etc.),

Personal traits:

  • able to communicate clearly and professionally,
  • motivated, self-driven and organized,
  • exercise of caution and situational awareness and use safe practices and PPE,
  • studies or broad knowledge and experience in metals and plastics processing, mechanical electromechanical, electronics and software engineering; machinery, tooling, plastic extrusion and molding.

Work Environment:

Office and Manufacturing environments. 

The Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of electric, heat and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead 

cranes, welding, machining, moving forklift, etc. 

This position requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, driving, reading, seeing, listening, speaking, concentration and an in-personal communication.
