Job Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment across assigned facilities. This role involves performing routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and safety checks to ensure a hygienic and secure space for staff, visitors, and occupants. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and committed to upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitizing
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and buff floors to maintain cleanliness.
- Dust and clean furniture, windows, walls, and other surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and breakrooms; restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins throughout the facility.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and fixing minor leaks.
- Ensure proper care and storage of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Report major repair needs to the maintenance team promptly.
Security and Safety
- Monitor entrances and exits; ensure doors and windows are locked as required.
- Safely stores cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with safety protocols.
- Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents and maintain a secure environment.
Custodial Experience and Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs of completed cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or areas needing attention to management.
Specialized Cleaning Tasks
- Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings, events, and special functions.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks such as carpet shampooing and window washing on a scheduled basis.
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor facility settings.
- Exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals and equipment noise.
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on facility needs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, or healthcare setting.
- Basic knowledge of building systems and minor repair techniques.
- Ability to operate floor cleaning machines and other custodial equipment.
