Responsible for instructing Art/Crafts/Pottery classes to adults and/or youth. This position will teach two youth pottery classes on Saturdays from 11:30am-5pm and one beginner adult pottery class on Sundays from 1:30pm-4:30pm.
Position Duties
Evaluates current programming and registration to ensure programs are meeting needs of customers.
Prepares all materials and equipment for classes.
Prepares reports, correspondence and other tasks as assigned.
Must exercise safety awareness and practices.
Performs equipment maintenance and cleaning. Duties include set-up and take down of equipment pertaining to class. This includes loading and firing a kiln.
Follows and enforces all department policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude.
Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED). Direct education and experience in the field of ceramics and art. Minimum two years’ experience in instruction of arts, recreation, or related field.
Any combination of education, experience, or specialized training that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for excellent job performance may be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPR and First Aid AED Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Various art supplies necessary to conduct class.
