An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you’ll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You’ll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.
Primary Accountabilities
- Develop an understanding of the organization’s business environments, corporate culture and structure to support work initiatives.
- Open to and supports new ideas, systems and procedures. Generate creative ideas and actions in response to changing situations.
- Supports and plans work on small projects with direction from management.
- May assume the duties normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles.
- Presents project results to management and/or department personnel.
- Supports the team in analyzing in-flight projects for efficiency and budget adherence.
- Assists with the preparation of financial and operational reports for management.
- Provides support on ad-hoc analyses for various business decisions across the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- A strong interest in providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
- Basic familiarity with financial statements and management reporting through coursework or projects.
- An introductory understanding of financial and operational analysis concepts.
- Eagerness to learn and apply forecasting techniques, statistical analysis, and data modeling.
- An interest in gaining knowledge of insurance accounting and operations. Must be currently seeking a baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral degree and be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis or as required by the university's co-op program.
- Must have achieved 24 semester hours of academic credit before beginning the first work term.
Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam Group office.
