About the Role

 

Looking for an ambitious, ready-for anything mentality with a focus on customer service and satisfaction.  A positive attitude and coaching approach. The Codes, Standards, and Testing Manager ensures our ceilings products, installation methods, and product testing comply with all relevant industry, government, and safety regulations. Key responsibilities include researching standards, developing compliance strategies, collaborating with product management, design and operations teams, managing the product testing and certification process, providing technical guidance, and ensuring ongoing adherence to evolving codes. Strong technical knowledge of codes, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills are essential for this role. This role will require installation of products, lifting at least 50 pounds, and working on ladders.

 

 

What You’ll Do

 

Lead and build the Ceilings Codes, Standards, and Testing team in the Americas region (AMER).

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Compliance Oversight : Ensure that all products and installation recommendations meet established industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations. 
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies for compliance with codes and standards, including identifying potential challenges and opportunities related to regulatory changes. 
  • Technical and Testing Expertise: Provide expert guidance on specific codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ICC, UL, ASTM, CISCA, ANSI, etc.) for product design, installation, and manufacturing. Lead product testing efforts.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with R&D, product engineering, and product management to align new designs with testing and certification requirements, managing the independent listings, certification processes, and renewals. 
  • Team Leadership: Manage, develop, and provide direction to testing technician to make sure all testing is completed and documented.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various departments, such as product management, R&D, operations, sales, and legal (compliance), to ensure that the Group’s needs are met and issues are resolved. 
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company in relevant industry committees, providing technical input and advocating for company goals. 
  • Education and Training: Develop and deliver training materials on codes and standards for internal and external teams. 
  • Budget Management: Manage departmental budgets for consulting needs, compliance activities, and testing (materials and equipment)
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.

 

Additional Expectations

 

  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

 

  • A demonstrated 7+ year history of ceilings construction, code and standards management, and testing experience. A minimum of a 4-year degree in an engineering or related science field is required.
  • A willingness and expectation to move in a fast-paced environment.
  • A deep understanding of relevant construction codes, standards, product testing, and product certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfort with presenting complex materials in front of audiences and strong presentation skills. Experience managing at least one direct report.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and report writing.
  • A dedication to safety and compliance. Willingness to travel domestically up to 15% (internationally 1-2 times per year).
  • Willingness to be on site in the office or plant 4-5 times per week.
