The Payroll Assistant receives documents and forms and maintains employee records in the ERP/Payroll system. The role provides general payroll support to the weekly payroll process and monthly union remittances as needed.
- Coordinate with field management staff to collect, review, and save union new hire paperwork. Ensure information is complete and accurate, following up on any issues or missing information.
- Verify union I-9 forms have been completed according to government regulations and documented in the ERP system. Follow up with field management staff on any errors or inconsistencies.
- Create union employee records in ERP system. Ensure demographics, union details, and project assignment data is correct and complete.
- Review field time entry reports for potential errors in hours, union, pay class, and per diem. Follow up with site teams and address as appropriate prior to payroll processing.
- Submit new hire reports to state agencies.
- Update employee records as needed including personal data, withholdings, assignment transfers, and severance or termination information. Request missing severance notices for union employees no longer employed by AZCO to ensure ERP employee list is accurate.
- Respond to and resolve union employee payroll inquiries.
- Provide support to payroll team as needed during weekly processing and monthly union remittances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of accounting and/or payroll experience required or
- Pursuit of associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
- Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
