The Child Development Center at Keene State College invites applications for an Early Childhood Teacher to provide support in the infant classroom (Seven babies ages 4 months to 16 months) and will work in partnership with the center staff to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families and college students. This is a full-time and benefited position through mid-August to mid-June (FTE 88.46%)
The Child Development Center (CDC), located on the Keene State College campus in Elliot Center, is a demonstration early childhood education site for Keene State College students, practicing professionals, and young children and their families. The Center strives to model best practices by offering nurturing environments where young children are encouraged to explore, to be creative, to cultivate positive relationships, to experience the joy of learning, and to develop a sense of community.
The CDC is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing excellent practical experiences for students studying to enter the teaching profession, or a related profession, with young children. Undergraduate students are offered supervised experiences under the guidance of early childhood professionals, in the direct education and care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Through collaboration, the CDC staff contributes to an educational environment that encourages professionalism, growth, and inclusion. This position falls within the collective bargaining unit for the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA), an affiliate of the National Education Association of New Hampshire (NEA-NH).
Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan and implement best practices developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Model appropriate and nurturing child guidance.
Observe, assess and record children’s progress and maintain children’s records, including for special education.
Foster positive relationships with team members, children and families.
Maintain clean, welcoming and engaging classroom environment that reflects best-practice and models excellence.
Mentor undergraduate students and assist in their training and supervision.
Engage with each family, maintain on-going communication with classroom families including daily communications, regular written communication, planning and conducting parent conferences and parent education events.
Meet monthly with the CDC Director, complete annual evaluations process.
Participate at Student Employee meetings.
Attend CDC staff meetings, participate on committees and special projects.
Follow and uphold all procedures and policies of the Child Development Center and Keene State College.
Ensure teaching with the most updated professional knowledge and information by attending conferences, workshops and keeping current with course literature.
Assume administrative designation in director’s absence.
Minimum Acceptable Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Family Studies, Elementary Education or related field with at lease 18 credits in Early Childhood Education, including 3 credits in Child Development.
One year experience teaching children B-5.
Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Additional years of teaching
Teaching experience in a laboratory setting
NH Credential, Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
