Job Summary:

The Providence Center Nurse Educator will provide training and preceptorship to nurses at TPC. This position may also act as float nurse for programs throughout The Providence Center (TPC) in times of shortages or when re-allocation of resources is needed.

The Nurse Educator will work in coordination with nursing leadership to ensure the delivery of an excellent standard of care, which promotes independence and dignity and positively enhances the lives of our consumers. This nurse will act as a Nurse Planner for The Providence Center and assist the DON and Clinical Training Manager in providing workshops and trainings that will provide CEUs to nurses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Will be trained in all TPC programs with nursing needs including, CSU, MRTR, WRTR, group homes, ICT teams and ACT teams. Additional programs may be added as applicable.

Acts as a resource nurse for new nursing staff and provides feedback and competency evaluation.

Will train and oversee the training of all new nursing staff at TPC. May be asked to assist with training of non-nursing clinical staff on an as needed basis.

Will work in conjunction with area colleges and universities to facilitate clinical mental health rotations within TPC.

Will oversee Student Nurse Interns when applicable.

Identifies nursing education needs through the Center and provides necessary training in conjunction with DON and Clinical Training Manager.

Will serve on the Clinical Nurse Ladder Committee.

Will serve as Nurse Planner for TPC and will work in conjunction with CNE Primary Nurse Planner.

Collaborate with the DON for issue resolutions and projects to improve workflow processes throughout all programs at TPC.

Will attend trainings, case presentations and conferences as necessary. Will provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.

Will facilitate trainings for direct care staff as needed.

Will supervise the Float Pool. May act as Float nurse in times of nursing shortage.

Alongside DON, will provide education and supervision to staff in response to incident reports.

Willing to work alongside TPC Clinical Training Manager to implement and facilitate training opportunities for clinical staff

Willingness and ability to work alongside members of the TPC Senior Leadership Team when applicable.

May be asked to facilitate monthly Nurse Meeting with ACT 1 and ACT 2 nurses as well as quarterly meeting with Residential nurses.

Communicate clearly with clients, staff, team and leadership.

Complete assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluations, and re-evaluations of client status.

Prioritize duties, treatment and follow-up.

Knowledge of TPC policies and procedures

Ability to assess needs and organize education and training opportunities independently.

Knowledge of scope of practice of the registered nurse.

Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process.

Able to apply critical thinking skills, make independent decisions, work autonomously, and provide compassionate, evidence-based care that prioritizes patient safety and well-being.

Ability to assess nursing needs of the acute and chronically mentally ill client.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external customers.

Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively.

Able to navigate the organization to provide clinical coverage to all programs throughout TPC.

Serve as a role model to staff.

REQUIREMENTS:

RI RN licensure

Bachelor�s degree in nursing required. Master of Science in Nursing preferred.

Minimum of 1 year as a registered nurse with The Providence Center.

QMHP certification (or eligible to obtain).

Meet all requirements of the Clinical Ladder III designation or actively working towards. Will complete Clinical Nurse IV designation within1.5 years of appointment.

Position may require driving. Must have valid driver's license, registration, current inspection and insured automobile.
