The Job

This is a unique opportunity to be a marketplace chaplain, within a Christian organization! The chaplain will support Christian Care Ministry’s (CCM) employees in their spiritual growth, providing spiritual care and comfort to employees - primarily through confidential communications. The chaplain also facilitates Bible studies, book studies, and prayer groups that any employee can take part in during the work week. This position requires a seasoned, solid foundation in God’s Word with a desire to reach, teach, and demonstrate the love of Jesus. The Chaplain is to be emotionally and spiritually mature, and able to share God’s hope and comfort in the midst of challenging situations. 


Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively aid, model, and enhance CCM’s ministry culture with an emphasis on earning and establishing trust with employees
  • Provide spiritual guidance and encouragement to CCM employees
  • Maintain office hours during which all employees (onsite & remote) may connect with the Chaplain to discuss, in confidence, spiritual issues of concern 
  • Develop, lead, and maintain small and large group devotionals and Bible study sessions
  • Provide assistance, leadership, and shepherding to CCM employees in the form of spiritual care, support, and prayer
  • Offer work-related support and provide local resources and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) resources or pastoral or professional counseling, as needed or requested
  • Exercise a spirit of humility, be approachable, and be prepared to mentor and disciple in a way that does not hinder a mentee’s progress
  • Provide prayer and spiritual support to CCM’s Medi-Share® program members upon request
  • Assist in weekly Chapel services as needed
  • Develop community ministry relationships to help CCM employees partner and serve at organizations and ministries through CCM's Missions & Volunteer PTO opportunities
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity and ability to lead devotionals and prayer on an individual basis, in small groups, and virtual settings
  • Write and submit blog posts and/or record short video presentations for CCM’s Communications department on a scheduled basis
  • Maintain any and all records in a manner that protects CCM employees and their communications with the Chaplain from accidental disclosure
  • Recommend and assist the development of tools and offerings that serve the spiritual needs of CCM employees
  • Participate in New Employee Orientation, compliance, and on-going training upon request
  • Maintain integrity of work hours, availability, and recorded statistics
  • Contribute to the exercise and expression of Christian Care Ministry’s Christian beliefs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Spiritual, Professional, & Ethical Conduct

  • Confidentiality is essential in this role. Except as may be required by law or for protection and safety of third-persons, the Chaplain shall not divulge the identities of the employees who confer with the Chaplain seeking spiritual comfort and discipleship, without the consent of the employee. Information shared with the Chaplain in a confidential setting must not be disclosed to anyone at CCM without the express permission of the employee(s) communicating with the Chaplain. The Chaplain is a confidential resource for CCM employees; however, behaves as a mandatory reporter for abuse issues related to children or at-risk adults, and issues required by company policy
  • The Chaplain is not a general agent of CCM nor is authorized to receive notices of any kind (i.e. harassment or misconduct) or to accept services of process, on behalf of CCM
  • Reporting will include numbers of employees consulting a chaplain, study or spiritual development session attendance numbers, but no identifying information
  • The Chaplain should maintain an active role with a local church in order to maintain balanced judgment and personal growth
  • The Chaplain must report immediately to the Human Resources Department any complaint of unethical conduct made against the Chaplain in any context
  • Engage in on-going training for Chaplains certification, renewal, and learn the limits of appropriate interactions and confidentiality under the law

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite or compatible skills with the desire and aptitude to learn additional skills is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to provide spiritual comfort and discipleship
  • Demonstrate all basic Chaplaincy skills, such as awareness of the Chaplain’s own cultural values, beliefs, assumptions and biases; and ability to reach and include persons of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies, Theology, Counseling, or closely related field with 4-6 years’ of ministry or pastoral counseling, spiritual and/or mentoring leadership, with a demonstrated ability to faithfully teach the Word of God required
  • Licensed or certified by a nationally or internationally-recognized Chaplain credentialing organization is required within 6 months of employment acceptance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This job does not directly supervise other employees, but is responsible for supervising the work of study group leaders, prayer groups, etc.
