Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time Staff Copywriter. Reporting to the Asst. Vice President of Marketing & Communications, the Staff Copywriter will be responsible for producing and/or editing written materials as needed University-wide. This role will collaborate across multiple departments to contribute to the execution of multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns with varying goals. This role will oversee the maintenance of the University’s article archives library, which includes copy, relevant images, and other types of media. The Staff Copywriter will be a key member of the Marketing & Communications team who will participate in a broad range of projects from concept to completion. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Serve as the primary copywriter for Caldwell University, taking on projects that include but are not limited to press releases, social media copy, advertising copy, promotional materials, emails, website articles, academic flyers, etc.
Establish and maintain relationships with local news outlets, notably those with print presence
Establish and maintain the University’s article archives library to ensure assets are up-to-date, relevant and on brand
Serve as contributing member of the Marketing & Communications team, effectively taking direction and offering solutions that can elevate the existing Caldwell University brand
Contribute to the planning and development of Caldwell University’s social media content calendar for current platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and future platforms
Quick mastery of Caldwell University’s branding and style guidelines in order to ensure that all messaging is consistent with the values, aesthetics and voice of the University
Participate in the evaluation of campaign analytics as they relate to ROI
Candidate must have 3-5 years of copywriting experience, which would include press releases, social media copy, and feature articles. Knowledge of AP Style guidelines; familiarity with Chicago Style guidelines.Strong aptitude of the Microsoft Office Suite, notably Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Strong proofreading skills. Ability to translate a concept to a solution that is well-written, on brand and competitive in the marketplace. Strong organizational, interpersonal and project management skills; some design software (Canva, Photoshop or InDesign) skills a plus.
