About the Department
PLEASE NOTE: This position is located within a secured jail facility.
High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree in business, public administration or other related field; minimum of two years of experience providing professional level administrative, analytical and/or operational support in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience within a correctional or law enforcement organization preferred. Must have experience with Microsoft office and knowledge of basic office equipment; must have experience in composing correspondence and memos; experience in bookkeeping/payroll. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and public. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background investigation to include polygraph examination, and education/degree verification required.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
Position Duties
Provides a variety of administrative, secretarial and statistical support to the Jail Administration and other Sheriff's Office staff while working independently under broad/general supervision. Prepares monthly reports, enters time/leave into finance system; reviews and corrects time sheets; reconciles leave balances; answers and follows up with payroll questions. Revises and creates jail operating procedures; coordinates and prepares purchase/printing requests for the jail; assists with Board of Corrections audits; maintains copies of incident reports. Performs other work as required.
