Performs various types of general maintenance and repairs throughout the University on the Night/Weekend Maintenance Team.Job Description:
- Perform basic electrical repairs such as replacement of ballast and lamp holders in fluorescent/LED light fixtures, fluorescent, incandescent, and LED bulbs.
- Replace light switches, receptacles, cover plates, and light fixtures.
- Repair hardware on doors, windows, cabinets, and furniture.
- Respond to all elevator calls, correct the problem if possible, and get passengers who are stuck on elevators off safely.
- Respond to all code red calls. Resets any devices affected by the alarm. Has complete knowledge of the use of all types of fire extinguishers.
- Attend training on fire prevention and safety.
- Repair or replace plumbing fixtures such as faucets, flush valves, and other related parts.
- Unclog floor drains, toilets, and sinks.
- Assist in making emergency repairs on hot and cold-water lines, steam lines, drain lines, and air lines.
- Prepare wall surfaces and painting.
- Perform preventative maintenance for emergency systems, eyewash stations, and other equipment as required.
- Perform building inspections and rounds, and prepare nightly shift reports.

Required qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED
Work Experience:
- Three years of experience in general maintenance and repair.
Preferred qualifications
Work Experience:
- Experience with CMMS system (like Maximo).
Skills
- Basic computer skills.
- Trade skill experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or controls

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
