Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Workdays: Monday – Friday Location:  5315 Summit Pkwy | San Antonio, TX 78207

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Specialist for the School Impact Program is responsible for providing direct support service for refugee children and their families to promote effective integration and education and successful transition to the public school systems. Will be involved in operating the after school tutoring and summer program for newly arrived refugee children as an as needed basis. The RSI Program Specialist is responsible for the collection of data, and developing tracking tools to ensure RSI is reaching its programmatic goals.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Will be responsible for developing and managing excel spreadsheets to track client information, services, develop file documentation forms and track program data and its goals. Able to input & retrieve data on a regular basis. Collect weekly, monthly and quarterly data from agencies database and internal Excel spreadsheets.
  • *Will take the lead on capturing monthly client counts, quarterly reports for funding sources and the agency, and other reporting used to capture data for RSI. 
  • *Able to read and interpret data, and report out data to program directors and funding sources. 
  • *May be assigned as a coder in the agencies financial database, Sage Intacct, to submit invoices, staff      reimbursements, or other financial needs, to be submitted in a timely manner. 
  • *Tracking of student participation and requesting student grades & attendance records from local school districts.
  • *Register and enroll eligible students into the program using interpretation services.
  • *Able to track volunteer hours, in both internal reporting and through Give Pulse. 
  • *Will assist with summer programming, and lead leveled classes to newly arrived refugee youth in the      newcomer summer program. 
  • If assigned an agency credit card, will be responsible for entering credit card expense through Smart      Data, and will be expected to submit in a timely manner. 
  • In the absence of RSI front line staff, the Program Specialist will step in to cover at the after school-tutoring program, on an as needed basis. He/She will assist with, client transportation and the maintenance and care of donated classroom space.
  • Assist with providing direct client supportive services and referrals for refugee students.
  • Ensure regular maintenance of client case files.
  • Assist with ensuring sound dialogue is sustained between the school districts, community partners, Refugee  Services and refugee families. 
  • Assist in writing program reporting required of the School Impact grant funding source. Including, available grant opportunities that would benefit the program.
  • Report on activities, visits, and special client concerns to the Program Director and other staff.
  • Search for new partnerships to collaborate with SIP, for donations, student presentations, or volunteers or interns. Assist with developing new projects for students to develop leadership skills, social skills, character development and language skills. 
  • Present on behalf of the RSIP to recruit volunteers, interns and to educate and inform community partners. 
  • Able to pick up, sort and deliver donations to clients. 
  • Able to transport clients when necessary in an agency vehicle.
  • Conduct home visits on an as-needed basis, to reach out to families to eliminate all barriers.
  • Able to assist and lead cultural orientations for parents of school-aged children.
  • Flexibility of work schedule, may be asked to work some weekends and evenings for client engagement, fundraising and training activities. Much notice will be given.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, monitoring many student’s behavior and activities at once.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, social service or business-related field.
  • OR Experience
    • Minimum of (1) years working in a social service environment that  demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
  • License and Credentials
    • Reliable transportation
    • Valid driver license & cleaning driving record
    • Valid vehicle insurance
    • Ability to operate an agency 12 passenger van on an as  needed basis for program activities and events.
    • Must be 21 years of age and adhere to the CCAOSA policy, which will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to operate an agency vehicle.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Minimum of (1) years’ experience in working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred. 
  • Experience with personal computer, various computer software, email and Microsoft Works,      specifically Excel. 
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional client relationship.
