POSITION: Assistant Superintendent of Business

START DATE: January 2026

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Educational Leadership, Human Resources, or a related field (Certifications such as CPA, CGFO, or CSBO can be substitutes for the Master’s degree)

• Experience in administration and management of financial, human resources, and operational procedures within a school district

• Strong knowledge of public school finance, budgeting, personnel law, and employee relations

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Other qualifications as the Board of Trustees may require

CONTRACT/SALARY RANGE:

240 days (Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications.)

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Financial and Business Services

• Administer the district’s annual operational budget and restricted fund budgets.

• Oversee the district’s finance operations.

• Monitor and ensure compliance with state, federal, and local accounting regulations.

• Develop the district’s capital project plan and coordinate capital improvement projects, new construction, and renovation projects.

• Oversee the district’s bond sales and debt service funds.  Maintain a strong financial rating for the district.

• Oversee the fringe benefits program and payroll operations.

• Supervise all district facilities, maintenance, and custodial programs.

• Coordinate the district’s risk management programs, including property, vehicle, and liability insurance and bonding.

• Report district’s financial position to district leadership and the Board of Trustees.

• Join professional organizations related to school business.

Human Resources Leadership

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for all human resources functions, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee evaluation, compensation, and professional development.

• Ensure compliance with employment laws, certification requirements, and district policies.

• Oversee employee relations, investigations, and personnel documentation.

• Promote a positive and professional work culture focused on engagement, retention, and employee wellness.

• Collaborate with district and school leaders on staffing allocations and organizational planning.

• Advise the Superintendent and Board on HR and personnel matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of five (5) years of successful administrative experience in school leadership, district business, finance, or human resources.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple departments and lead cross-functional teams.

• Proven record of integrity, collaboration, and effective communication with staff, administrators, and the community.
