What are we looking for in a Behavioral Health Specialist?
Behavioral Health Specialists with PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) are part of a community based treatment team with a majority of services provided out in the community. This team is very fast paced and on the go. The ideal candidate must have efficient time management, organizational and prioritization skills. Using evidence-based practices, Behavioral Health Specialists provide clients and their families with support in learning new skills and connecting clients to community resources. Counseling and skill development may be provided through individual or group sessions, depending on need. PACT is a service delivery model with the primary goal of recovery through community treatment. Its target population is those with challenging and persistent mental health issues. The PACT model is characterized by a team approach, shared caseload, time-unlimited services, flexible service delivery, and 24/7 crisis availability. The schedule for this position is Tuesday - Friday 8am-7pm, plus participation in the call rotation for after-hours crisis coverage for PACT clients. Frequent local travel within the community is required, as PACT clients may be seen in the clinic or in the community at a time and location most convenient for them.
Behavioral Health Specialist duties may include:
- facilitating individual or family counseling and skill building sessions
- leading behavioral health groups
- completing mental health assessments for new program clients
- developing an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with each client
- monitoring client symptoms, medication response, and activities of daily living
- case management responsibilities such as assisting clients with completion of benefits paperwork or securing housing, monitoring of protective payee agreement, and connecting to community resources
- assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
- completing all required clinical documentation in a timely and client-centered manner
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field
- Must have associate or full professional licensure or be otherwise eligible for MHP designation
- Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor
- Valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
- In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
