Job Description
- Help schedule tutoring sessions and keep calendars up to date.
- Track tutor hours, attendance, and program records.
- Communicate with tutors and students about scheduling or program updates.
- Organize tutoring materials and keep program spaces tidy.
- Assist with setup for meetings, trainings, and events.
- Help create and update tutor training materials and resources.
- Support new projects that make the program stronger and more effective.
- Contribute to planning and promoting events or workshops.
- Write or update short materials for students and tutors, like learning guides or website posts.
- Observe tutoring sessions and take notes using program guidelines.
- Share feedback and observations with the Tutoring Coordinator.
- Help identify what’s working well and where tutors might need extra support.
- Collect and summarize feedback from tutors and students.
- Assist with simple data tracking and reports that show program trends.
- Help with newsletters, outreach, or social media to share program updates.

Position Overview
KU’s Wingspan: Center for Learning and Writing Support offers a portfolio of collaborative, innovative academic support programs and services to students, faculty, and staff. The Wingspan provides individual and group support through its Peer Academic Coaching program, Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, Tutoring Services, and Writing Center Services. The Wingspan is a part of the University Academic Support Centers (UASC), a comprehensive student support program consisting of two unique centers designed to strengthen the academic skills and written communication of students at the University of Kansas. UASC supports the University’s commitment to the academic success and holistic development of students. UASC programs encourage student participation both in and out of the classroom, support academic and personal development, and link students to other campus and community resources for academic and personal support and development. University Academic Support Centers is a department within Academic Affairs.
Position Overview:
The Peer Tutoring Program Assistant plays an essential role in both the daily operations and ongoing development of the Peer Tutoring Program. This position supports the Tutoring Coordinator in ensuring tutoring services run smoothly while contributing to program improvement initiatives that enhance tutor training, student engagement, and program visibility.
The assistant’s responsibilities include scheduling and communication support, tutor observation and feedback, data tracking, and the creation of materials and reports. This role offers the opportunity to learn about educational program management, gain insight into effective tutoring practices, and directly contribute to improving student learning experience on campus.
