Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and lead independent, third-party audits
- Gather objective evidence and prepare clear, impartial audit reports
- Host opening and closing meetings to communicate findings
- Build and maintain professional client relationships
- Continue developing your knowledge of the industry and evolving standards
- Complete auditor training and achieve your Lead Auditor qualification (supported by ISOQAR)
Typical Areas of Audit Activity
Your practical background in construction or engineering will help you evaluate how organisations manage quality, safety and environmental performance across:
- Building construction – new builds, refurbishments, extensions and repairs
- Civil engineering – roads, bridges, railways, tunnels, harbours and airfields
- Specialist and finishing trades – scaffolding, roofing, steelwork, plastering, tiling and carpentry
- Building services and infrastructure – plumbing, HVAC, electrical, pipelines and utilities
No two audits are the same – this role offers exposure to a diverse range of clients, operations and environments.
What you’ll need to be successful
You’ll bring hands-on experience from construction or civil engineering and understand how sites and projects run day-to-day. Clear communication, good analytical skills and precise report writing are key, along with a professional and methodical approach.
You’ll also be comfortable with regional and national travel (including occasional overnight stays) and hold a full UK driving licence. Your integrity, technical knowledge and ability to deliver clear, high-quality audit reports will help you thrive in this role.
