Job Purpose:
Liaisons support collaborative communication between schools, our multilingual parents,
students and community members to promote student achievement and growth. The job of
Multilingual Parent-Community Liaison/Interpreter provides support to the instructional
program with specific responsibilities for providing information on programs/services available
to students and families as well as school and/or district activities and procedures, referring
families to other agencies, and fostering an ongoing partnership between the home and school.
Duties:
Acts as an interpreter for students, staff,
teachers, and families to convey
information in meaningful ways in order to
support students and to engage families in
home-school partnerships (e.g. applications
for services, interpreting technical
information, assisting with registration,
etc.).
issues, available programs/services,
completing necessary paperwork, etc.)
Collaborates with teachers, parents, and/or
appropriate school or community agencies
to support students (e.g., state agencies,
medical professionals, charities,
counselors)
Maintains a variety of confidential and non-
confidential records (e.g. activity logs,
phone logs, community resources, etc.) for
the purpose of documenting activities,
providing up-to-date reference and audit
trails and/or ensuring the availability of
items.
Performs other related duties as assigned,
including occasional interpretation at after
school events, for the purpose of meeting
students’ needs and ensuring effective
communication between families and
schools.
Responsibilities:
● Work with parents, community and school
organizations, programs, businesses and agencies
to meet students’ needs.
● Provide families with information about available
community services to assist with needs
● Serve as a mentor to multilingual students, i.e.
seniors preparing for post-secondary
● Help schools maintain accurate student contact
information.
● Help school support systems communicate and
deliver services. (e.g., phone calls, home visits,
meeting with school nurses, recorded messages on
multiple school websites and social media)
● Helping families complete a variety of school-
related forms, e.g. free and reduced lunch, school
enrollment
● Travels to student homes to facilitate support for
families and connecting to community and school
services
Work Environment:
The employee will work a full-time workload, some evenings and weekends may be required.
The building front office is a typical office environment and most work will be conducted in this
workspace as well around the school facilities.
Full time: 240 days Salary: $45,00+ benefits
