About the Department
The City of Lansing is seeking a full-time Wastewater Instrumentation Technician to join one of Michigan’s largest wastewater facilities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your skills in electrical and electronic circuitry, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and digital systems maintenance. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING:
- Selected candidate(s) will be offered as a condition of employment to participate in an employer paid Hepatitis B inoculation program.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License, including the DOT mandated medical card,
- Must pass and maintain Confined Space Training and Certification
- Must pass and maintain Powered Industrial Truck and Aerial Work Platform Training and Certification
- Must pass and maintain Lockout Tag out Training and Certification
- May be subject to emergency call-in and shift work as required.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology and five (5) years of industrial experience performing the repair and maintenance of electronic instrumentation systems; or ISA CCT level 1 certification.
Experience in the repair and maintenance of wastewater electronic instrumentation systems preferred.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Establishes and maintains preventative maintenance programs for process control systems.
Test, inspect repairs and calibrate analog, pneumatic and digital system components to ensure reliable and continuous operation.
Climbs up and down ladders as high as forty (40) feet to access control systems.
Establishes and implements appropriate system tests, calibrations and diagnostics.
Monitors and documents system performance.
Repair, maintain and adjust various control circuits, remote operators, telemetering and intercommunication equipment.
Develops, installs, and tests new circuitry, control systems sensors and related equipment.
Prepares weekly reports on systems status and special reports as assigned.
Drives a vehicle to and from work sites as required.
Maintains accurate records of calibrations and testing equipment
Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic actuated systems- Calibrates and repairs gas detection equipment and system
