The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a full-time (100%) Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor to teach four asynchronous online sections of “Religions of the World” and “Religions in the U.S.” during the Spring 2026 semester. This non-tenure-track position may be renewable, contingent upon the Department's staffing needs, support from the College, and evidence of excellent teaching. The position comes with full benefits, and the University of Tennessee has a well-established promotion system for non-tenure-line faculty. This position is fully remote.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in asynchronous online teaching; candidates who have relevant experience for teaching both “Religions of the World” and “Religions in the U.S.”; and candidates with a PhD in Religious Studies (or a related field), though ABDs will be considered. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment
