Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Advanced Cost Estimation and Analysis:
- Lead the development of comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for complex mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.
 - Analyze and interpret complex project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
 - Develop and implement advanced estimating strategies and techniques.
 - Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify cost trends and potential risks.
 - Perform detailed risk assessments and develop contingency plans.
 - Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize project costs.
 
 - Leadership and Mentorship:
- Mentor and train junior estimators, providing guidance and support.
 - Review and validate the work of junior estimators to ensure accuracy and consistency.
 - Lead estimating team meetings and provide technical expertise.
 - Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
 - Assist in the development and implementation of estimating best practices.
 
 - Strategic Planning and Project Evaluation:
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to develop bidding strategies.
 - Evaluate project feasibility and profitability.
 - Analyze historical data and performance metrics to improve estimating accuracy.
 - Identify and evaluate potential project risks and opportunities.
 - Develop and maintain relationships with key subcontractors and vendors.
 
 - Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Present cost estimates and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
 - Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors to secure competitive pricing.
 - Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure accurate cost projections.
 - Provide expert advice and support to project teams.
 - Maintain strong client relationships through clear and consistent communication.
 
 - Process Improvement and Technology:
- Identify and implement improvements to estimating processes and procedures.
 - Evaluate and recommend new estimating software and technologies.
 - Develop and maintain cost databases and historical data.
 - Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
 
 - Documentation and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost breakdowns and reports.
 - Ensure accurate and complete documentation of estimates, quotes, and related information.
 
 - Safety:
- Adhere to all company and project safety regulations.
 - Consider safety factors when estimating labor and equipment costs.
 
 
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
 - Proven experience (typically 3-5+ years) as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry.
 - Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.
 - Proficiency in using estimating software and databases (e.g., Revit, etc.).
 - Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
 - Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
 - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
 - Knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
