QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
Familiar with automated Payroll principles, preferred
Familiar with accounting software or Infinite Visions Accounting System, preferred
Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of governmental accounting principles preferred
Experience with deductions and reporting forms for withholding tax, retirement, social security, insurance, and other salary deductions as required or authorized
Experience in analyzing financial data, and knowledge of working solutions to prepare proper backup documentation for all submitted reports
Working knowledge of computer word-processing and Microsoft Office applications, and Google.
Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to complete computational tasks.
Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications, word processing, data management, and other assigned tasks as related to the position.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide accounting services essential to the preparation, administration, supervision and control areas responsible for as found in the USFR, Fair Labor Standards Act and District Policies.
Report to the Business Office Manager the amounts of warrants drawn, the accounts against which the warrants have been drawn, and the balance of each account per month.
Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
Refer non-job specific inquiries to appropriate departments.
Prepare financial and other budget reports as required by School Board and auditors.
Prepare payrolls, including deductions for withholding tax, retirement, social security, insurance, and other salary deductions as required or authorized.
Prepare and maintain all necessary earnings, deductions and associated personnel payment records and reports.
Cooperate with the auditors and provide information as requested for the appropriate department function.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with parents, students, staff, and the public.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Payroll Specialist reports to the Business Office Manager. The Payroll Specialist will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN: Starting at $18.35 Per Hour
WORK YEAR: 12 Months/8 hours
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
