Summary of Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Defence Finance Team within the newly formed Healthcare, Aerospace, Defence, Public & Infrastructure Sector. This is a new role created following recent growth across the Defence Business Unit. A varied and demanding role is offered with significant opportunity to learn and develop while supporting the strategic growth of the Defence Business Unit.

Finance Assistant Role & Duties

•    Supporting the Finance Manager to ensure revenues and costs are captured and allocated accurately.
•    Management of Subcontractor Purchase Orders including invoice queries resolutions.
•    Undertake nominal ledger tasks including processing journals, nominal ledger cross charges and period end reconciliations. 
•    Assisting with Ledger Account reconciliations aligned to the Management Accounts.
•    Preparation of Monthly Sales Invoices.
•    Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders. 
•    Reporting and monitoring of KPIs and non-financial information to support service delivery and contractual commitments.
•    Assisting the Finance Manager with balance sheet preparation including robust reconciliations to support balances. 
•    Completion of monthly payroll reconciliations. 
•    Completion of regular large operational and transactional reconciliations.
•    Supporting the Finance Managers with responsibilities across the wider Defence business.  

Candidate Experience, Skills and Attributes

•    Studying towards the AAT/CIMA/ACCA qualification.
•    Experience of working with a finance software package or ERP package.
•    Transport/Logistics Industry experience preferred but not essential. 
•    Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships at various levels.
•    Work to a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and promote healthy and robust financial controls. 
•    Be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards. 
•    Be flexible and respond quickly and positively to internal and external stakeholder requests. 
•    Have excellent IT skills and be able to understand and harness various systems to benefit the operation. 
•    Have commitment, passion and a progressive attitude for achievement.
