About the Role
 
Come join the team as a Service Locator for our growing business, along with exciting opportunities to work on some of the largest UK construction projects.
 
You will play a crucial role in conducting surveys, collecting data, and producing maps using various tools and software.
 
The scope of this role is to carry out the physical check and survey of all the underground services within the area that is being investigated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use various geophysical techniques to locate underground services and mark them on the ground in appropriate colours, defining service type and depth
  • Authorise permits and ensure compliance with the Break Ground procedure
  • Review method statements and provide work gangs with briefings on services within their work boundaries
  • Enforce designated exclusion zones and maintain service markings for the duration of permits
  • Liaise with the Service Coordinator regarding discrepancies in records, uncharted services, and updates to service drawings
  • Ensure all work is carried out under valid permits with appropriate signatures and current CAD drawings attached

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are seeking a candidate who can handle multiple tasks, show flexibility, and become a key contributor to our team.
 
Essential Requirements:
  • Valid and clean full manual driving licence
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team and interact with clients on-site
 
Desirable:
  • Previous utility locating experience
  • Familiarity with Electromagnetic location and ground penetrating radar
  • Solid understanding of industry practices and standards related to utility detection, including PAS 128 and TSA
  • Proficient working knowledge of surveying equipment, such as GPR, CAT, and Genny utility detection tools
  • CSCS Card (this must be obtained before commencing work)
  • QCF Level 3 or Level 5 certification in utility mapping
 
We will also consider Trainee candidates with a suitable background and genuine interest in developing a career in utility surveying.
