Duties
Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Knowledge of how to properly load and unload passengers. Skill in selecting the shortest and safest route.,Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.,Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance.,Work requires walking, lifting and carrying items weighing 40 pounds or less, driving, bending and stooping. Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation.,Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a passenger vehicle that carries 16 or more. Applicants must submit a CDL copy with applicable endorsements, (P) = Passenger and (S) = School bus, to be found eligible.

Allowances and Differentials This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays.
