Cell Leader - 2nd Shift
As a Cell Leader for the 2nd Shift at New Flyer, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team in the manufacturing process of our high-quality transit buses. Your role is essential to maintaining production efficiency, ensuring safety measures are followed, and driving our continuous improvement initiatives. You will foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion safety within the cell by enforcing regulations, conducting safety training, and leading by example to create a culture of awareness.
 - Implement and uphold lean manufacturing principles, conducting regular reviews and audits to support ongoing OPEX initiatives and drive efficiency.
 - Oversee quality control processes within the cell, ensuring that team members conduct self-inspections and adhere to standards for first-time quality.
 - Conduct daily stand-up meetings to review production goals, address challenges, and collaboratively develop action plans to meet targets.
 - Coordinate the management of personnel to ensure optimal staffing levels, including scheduling shifts, managing overtime, and supporting employee training initiatives.
 - Manage documentation for employee performance, attendance, and reviews while upholding confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
 - Promote a collaborative atmosphere by working closely with other departments such as Quality Assurance, Engineering, and HR to address any operational challenges.
 - Actively support the administration and compliance of the Collective Bargaining Agreement in all departmental operations.
 
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive or transit bus industry.
 - Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, necessary for effective team and cross-departmental collaboration.
 - Solid understanding of lean manufacturing methodologies and quality management systems.
 - Experience in managing production metrics and using data to drive decision-making.
 - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
 - Familiarity with the Collective Bargaining Agreement processes is an asset.
 - Proficient in basic computer skills and manufacturing software applications.
