Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a California Client Manager to join our Resilience Water Team in California.

This is a bold opportunity for a driven, self-motivated professional to take their career to the next level, join one of the best-qualified full-service engineering consulting firms in the country, and help shape Arcadis’ mounting impact across California and beyond. The successful candidate will utilize their expertise and knowledge of municipal water, recycled water, wastewater and stormwater planning, engineering design and construction, resilience and/or climate adaptation, along with a proven reputation in California for excellence in client management and business development to successfully win and grow our portfolio of industry-leading projects. This role will report directly to the California Area Leader and successful candidate will actively participate as a key member of the California Resilience - Water Leadership Team.

Role accountabilities:

As the California Client Manager you will collaborate closely with the West Region Director, California leadership, Growth Team, and Technical Experts to secure and deliver projects that meet client goals while maintaining a high standard of service. You will play a key role in strategic planning and growth across various markets in California, while actively leading client account teams in Southern California to expand business development opportunities and strengthen relationships with local municipalities. 

This position requires coordination across Arcadis’ business practices to identify integrated opportunities and develop innovative solutions that drive growth. You will be responsible for maintaining a current pipeline of opportunities, leading account teams, and fostering high-performing teams through mentorship and leadership. As a trusted advisor to our clients, you will craft tailored solutions, lead proposal development, and deliver compelling presentations. You will also negotiate critical issues with clients, teaming partners, and subconsultants. Travel to client meetings and project sites is expected. Additionally, you will serve as a senior technical resource or project manager on a range of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater projects, and support the professional development of junior and mid-level staff across California.

Key Attributes:

The ideal candidate possesses strong client relationship skills with a proven track record of successfully positioning, pursuing, and winning projects in the municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater sectors. They demonstrate excellent technical engineering expertise paired with clear and concise written and oral communication abilities. Additionally, the candidate exhibits strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills, enabling them to effectively navigate complex projects and drive successful outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the water / wastewater municipal utility market. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of experience in water and wastewater facilities, including planning, design, and construction for public and private sector clients, with a strong focus on current experience in the California municipal market. A Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related professional degree such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Public Administration (MPA), is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should hold a valid California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
