The Processing Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day function of the department, providing guidance and support to the employees in order to produce high-quality, value-added products. Responsibilities:
Train employees, plan, assign and direct work. Appraise performance, including rewarding and counseling employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Analyze work orders to estimate labor hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
Establish and implement work procedures to meet production schedules and other demands.
Maintain time and production records.
Ensure schedules are followed and completed and that work order specifications are maintained.
Review production and operating reports and resolves concerns to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Identify and prevent health and safety issues and report/document incidents as may be necessary.
Develop basic understanding of how machines operate and be able to properly calibrate all equipment.
Oversee team members to ensure they understand company standards and sanitation procedures.
Resolve employee concerns and/or communicate unsettled matters to the Production Manager.
Maintain positive employee morale, a safe and clean working environment, and individual performance standards.
Ensure Company policies are followed and that progressive discipline is followed and documented under Production Manager’s direction.
Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the processing areas is maintained.
Ensure production quality standards are not compromised.
Ensure compliance with USDA standards, the Company’s HACCP plan, SSOP’s, and GMP’s.
Complete daily reports and other documentation.
Other duties and requirements assigned by the Production Manager.
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in business management, manufacturing, food science, quality management, environmental science or a related degree.
Previous successful experience leading production teams in a food manufacturing environment; meat processing experience is preferred.
Experience with the ERP system and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail with emphasis on continuous improvement.
Demonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, both verbal and written.
Ability to work in a cold environment, with temperatures ranging from 30° - 45°F.
Ability to stand, walk and lift at least 50 lbs. throughout the scheduled work shift.
