PURPOSE

Under general supervision, provides routine nursing care within the limits of nursing knowledge, education, licensure, experience and ethical, legal standards of care. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
  • Regular and dependable attendance due to teamwork, face to face interaction with patients and/or working with equipment.

  • Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.

RN:

  • Provides direct nursing care to patients and distributes medications and treatments under physician order according to accepted standards of care.
  • Accurately and completely rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, and prepares patients for provider exam.
  • Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to EKGs, audiograms, typanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with reporting and documentation as appropriate.
  • Provides vaccine management including ordering and monitoring vaccine usage/wastage, facilitating the maintenance of the vaccines, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation as recommended by Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • Facilitates the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the immunization program.
  • Demonstrates best practices and quality care.
  • Assesses the physical, social, and emotional needs of patients and families.
  • Teaches and counsels patients and families concerning heath assessment and care including prevention of disease and health maintenance.
  • Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers.
  • Accurately and completely performs patient follow-up activities including laboratory results and diagnostics, appointments, referrals, medications, and call backs.
  • Calls pharmacy with prescription refills as prescribed by and under the direction of the physician.

LVN:

  • Provides direct nursing care to patients and distributes medications and treatments under physician order according to accepted standards of care.
  • Accurately and completely rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, prepares patients for provider exam, and administers medications and injections.
  • Teaches and counsels patients and families concerning heath assessment and care including prevention of disease and health maintenance.
  • Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with reporting and documentation as appropriate.
  • Monitors inventory of medical and/or office supplies and equipment, ensuring units and/or rooms are properly stocked and supplies are current and not expired. Orders supplies as needed.
  • May assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after exam. Reports and documents appropriately.
  • May provide vaccine management including ordering and monitoring vaccine usage/wastage, facilitating the maintenance of the vaccines, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation as recommended by Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • May facilitate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the immunization program.
  • Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers.

Medical Assistant:

  • Rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs and prepares patients for provider exam.
  • Administers medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice as demonstrated by completion of training and testing.
  • Performs diagnostic testing such as EKGs, audiograms, typanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings as instructed and documents in EPIC EMR.
  • Responsible for reviewing both Provider refill in basket and assisting with daily medication refill request using the ARC refill protocol. 
  • Responsible for reviewing EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
  • Responsible for reviewing result note in basket and calling /informing patients of normal lab results.
  • Ensures rooms are properly stocked and supplies are current and within expiration dates.
  • Cleans patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
  • Ensures laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens on a daily basis.
  • Follows directions given by nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Follows clinic protocols.
  • Provides patients with educational materials as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

RN:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.  

Experience:  Previous experience in an ambulatory, hospital, or home health setting preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Required Certificate/License: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas and current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card.   Will be required to maintain a current registered nursing license and CPR certification during employment. 

LVN:

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.  Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing.

Preferred: Previous experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting preferred.

Certificate/License: Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas and current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card.  Will be required to maintain a current vocational nursing license and CPR certification during employment.

Medical Assistant:

Education and Experience

Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required to meet one of the following:
    • Medical Assistant experience, or
    • CNA/EMT/PCT (or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care, beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or
    • Graduate of a medical assistant program.

Preferred:

  • Six (6) months or more experience working as a Medical Assistant.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
