The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated individual for an appointment as an assistant professor. The ideal candidate will have documented research experience that is focused on the area of pharmaceutical product development. Specific experience with the translation of pharmaceutical products in an academic setting from preformulation through clinical implementation is desired. Experience with productive research team development and oversight. A proven record for project execution, including milestone, budget, and timeline management. Experience that spans a range of funders, including government, foundation, and industry. A history of the establishment of successful collaborations across essential scientific areas for successful pharmaceutical product development. The successful applicant is expected to participate in the establishment and successful sustainment of a new center focused in pharmaceutical product development. Teaching excellence is also expected of the successful candidate, with the expectation to assist in the development and to teach new programming related to regulatory science, commercialization, and product development. Other teaching, service, and mentoring may be assigned as needed.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and experience in formulation, preclinical testing, and development of drug products. Candidates with a strong record of successful management of product development projects and experience with regulatory guidelines and submissions, including quality aspects, are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidate also must have clear potential for service contract funding, extramural funding, partnership development, and commercialization funding to sustain the new center and this position. The University of Pittsburgh is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the institutional engagement and well-being excellence of the academic community through their leadership, research, teaching, and/or service. Salary for this calendar-year appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
