Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.
Requirements / Qualifications
SCOE Para Educator Severe Application
Must be at least 18 years of age
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in working with children or individuals with disabilities.
Copy of SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test certificate OR one of the following:
SCOE ESSA /NCLB test certificate, CBEST, or transcripts showing 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded.
The following are NOT required at the time of application but will be required if offered employment: *Department of Justice Fingerprint clearance *Tuberculosis Clearance *Physical/Drug Screen clearance
Salary Info
Range 7, CSEA Classified Regular Salary Schedule ** Initial salary placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 3 ($23.76) for external candidates (Article 14.9, CSEA Articles of Agreement)
Comments and Other Information
BENEFITS: A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
