Responsibilities
- Supervise Senior Field Operators and subordinate-titled personnel in the location of feeder faults and the positive identification, marking, and tagging of feeders and phases, application and removal of protective grounds, and all other steps involved in feeder processing
- Ensure that high-tension switching operations are performed in compliance with operating procedures and engineering specifications, including at unit substations, automatic transfer switches, and high-tension vaults
- Ensure compliance with the provisions of Corporate Instruction 120-1: "Performance of Field Forces."
- Conduct Job Briefings and Job Briefing Assessments, Job Site Safety Exchanges (JSSEs), Driver Assessments, AVAIL Audits, and vehicle inspections
- Review and analyze Daily Crew Activity Reports (DCARs) to improve productivity and reduce associated time to meet established goals
- Check for proper accounting and generate approvals in the Work Management System to ensure proper work request numbers, work components,compatible units, work types, and categories
- Ensure that direct reports work activities are performed in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Ensure training and compliance and guide the technical and professional development of direct reports
- Promote a culture of inclusion and engagement, growth, and resource flexibility that fosters professionalism, honesty, concern, courtesy, excellence , and teamwork
- Celebrate success by rewarding and recognizing exemplary performance
- Recognize and implement corrective actions in cases of poor work performance
- Enforce good housekeeping practices for equipment, vehicles, and work areas
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years Relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years Relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years Relevant work experience
- Strong understanding of Underground Electric Distribution System Preferred
- Technical knowledgeable in fault locating, protective grounding, positive feeder identification, high-tension switching, phase marking, unit substations, automatic transfer switches, high potential testing and proof testing Preferred
- Strong knowledge of feeder processing Preferred
- Must possess the ability to evaluate, prioritize and respond to rapidly changing conditions within the Electric distribution system. Preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of management and union personnel are required. Preferred
- Must possess a high energy level, be flexible, and be able to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Preferred
- Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft suite, outlook) Preferred
- Strong knowledge of relevant Corporate Environmental and Safety Procedures Preferred
- Field experience in Electric Operations, Substation Operations, or Transmission Operations Preferred
- Possesses strong technical aptitude
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to lead/manage others
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Project Demonstrated project management skills
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
- Driver's License Required
- Must respond to system emergencies
- Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
- Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
- Must climb ladders and stairs
- Must enter underground vaults through manholes
- Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
- Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Must climb in and out of manholes and excavations
- Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift
- Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
- Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
- Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
- Must work with equipment with manufacturer weight rating of 350 llbs.
- Must be able to use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375 lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment.
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
