The Consultation Services Specialist is a full-time position with day time hours. Job Summary
The Consultation Services Specialist is responsible for understanding and implementing all of the program requirements for the Client Directed Services (CDS) program of Community First Supports and Services (CFSS). The individual in this position markets MRCI CDS services to participants, representatives, and Lead Agency personnel in private and public forums, assists to maintain a strong customer-focused culture, and remains current with legislative changes, keep abreast of State and Federal rules and regulations that affect the program
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

In this position you will:
- Understand the CFSS program and communicate details of the program to participants, representatives, families and lead agency personnel.
- Promote systems that ensure appropriate and timely service and maintain a strong and supportive customer-focused culture.
- Perform as the first point of contact for all participant interaction including: intake, plans and budget creation, program education, and problem solving.
- Report to Consultation Services Coordinator when problems arise and assist with resolutions based on an understanding of the CFSS program, DHS rules and regulations, and Lead Agency guidelines for management of federal, state and lead agency funds and program requirements.
- Remain current with legislative changes, and State and Lead Agency trends that affect CFSS program; respond as needed by assisting with the development of new practices and procedures. Work with the individuals Lead Agency, DHS and/or other providers to develop CDS best practices.
- Write new plans and budgets and input service authorization information into systems. Process plan revisions, monitor plans and budgets on a quarterly basis, communicate with the FMS or Agency per individual’s needs, assist with renewals and all other processes that are part of providing service to the department’s customers.
- Assist with worker training and development as it pertains to an individual’s budget.
- Process employee status change forms as needed; contacts participants or representatives for required information and documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To Succeed in this position, you will have
Education/Experience
Human services experience in the areas of customer service or direct service to participants planning and one of the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within the area of study listed below;
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology
- Professional Recreation
- Professional Dietitian
- Sociology
- Counseling
- Special Education
- Rehabilitation Counseling
- Other Human Services field
- An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university within the area of study listed above, plus one year of full-time experience providing direct services to people with disabilities or people older than age 65.
- Experience coordinating or directing services for people with disabilities or people older than age 65, including self-directed services.
- Experience coordinating own services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong writing, reading, and interpersonal communication skills,
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to make decisions, and work independently.
- Strong problem solving and reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in computer based office software including Microsoft Office products.
- A valid Driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel throughout Minnesota.
- Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check.
- Multilingual (Spanish or Somali) is a plus.
