Basic Function
Responsible for production of high quality food while maintaining kitchen functions efficiently. Ensures that all food prepared is savory, appealing and food safe.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Assists by providing daily requisitions for product
Holding all staff accountable for thoroughly and efficiently completing assigned tasks
Oversee production ensuring that they are using proper production methods, following the menus, and meeting management expectations of quality, presentation and service
Reducing food waste by monitoring production to ensure that kitchen staff are not over producing and that they are using the product menued for that day.
Ensure that taste and temperature of all items leaving the kitchen meets or exceeds standards
Record keeping of temperature logs, food temp logs daily
Assist any manager in developing recipes and menus
Assist with staff development, coaching and discipline
Participates in Event and Catering meeting
Manage evening catering events per Catering Chef instructions
Work in all locations of dining
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and its maintenance needs
Work with local inspectors (Health Department, Department of Agriculture, Ecosure, etc.) to ensure safe food practices
Communicates with Retail Manager of any operational concerns that need to be addressed
Arrives to work on time and in clean, proper uniform.
Complete all additional tasks as assigned by managers
Other Functions/Responsibilities:
Supervisors must not only enforce rules but also be an example by following those same rules
Effective communication with all levels of food service staff
Keep up with food trends and promotions
Education – Skills - Expectations
Culinary Arts Degree or Equivalent Experience desired
One year of supervisory experience in a professional kitchen
Must be able to lift and push/pull 50 pounds
Have dependable transportation
Flexible availability for all shifts, 7 days a week
Good communications skill
Must pass a back-ground check
ServSafe Certification/Able to get certification
The Kitchen Supervisor position involves the physical work of preparing food in a commercial kitchen environment. These responsibilities include moving inventory, product, carts, tables, etc. as well as food preparation and production using kitchen utensils and commercial kitchen equipment. Environment may include hot, humid, or cold temperatures. May require extended working hours at times.
Must possess a positive, can-do attitude, be detail oriented, with a love and a passion for food. Must maintain professionalism at all times, and work with others in a cooperative manner, even while working under pressure. Willing to engage actively in the physical work of a high quality food service operation. Expected to adhere to Employee Handbook policies and procedures.
