Professional Trainee I Contract (SR-16)

General Summary:  

The Professional Trainee I will be assigned to the Latent Print Unit, to complete the unit’s in-house training program. The trainee will receive hands-on instruction in the use of the Automated Fingerprint identification System (AFIS) for identification of fingerprints.

• Trains in comparative examinations of latent fingerprints with existing records in order to establish identification.
• Trains in the use of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for import, examination, interpretation, classification, and identification of fingerprints.
• Trains and assists with the recovery of latent fingerprints utilizing a variety of physical, chemical, and lighting techniques.
• Trains and assists with basic laboratory maintenance and quality control checks.
• Inventories, restocks, and procures supplies and reagents for the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

Training and Experience:  A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university
