Job Description
POSITION: Additional Hours for Service Classification Shortages
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Principal/Administration
EMPLOYMENT TERM: As needed, supplemental pay, not to exceed 3.5 hours per day worked.
POSTING NOTES: Due to significant, ongoing shortages of substitute and/or regular Aides, Bus Operators, Cooks, Custodians, Secretaries, and Clerks coverage W. Va. Code §18A-4-8h states (b) due to the shortages of substitutes in service personnel positions, a service personnel may substitute on a day-to-day basis in a position outside of their regular full-time position: Provided, That a service personnel may not substitute in another position if:
(a) A qualified substitute is available to fill the shift;
(b) The shift interferes with their regular duties and or responsibilities; and
(c) The service personnel assuming the shift is not properly certified and trained for that position.
Hours are not to exceed 3.5 hours per day worked. Work hours will be determined on need and with building principals or department supervisors.

Qualifications: You must be a current Jefferson County Schools Employee and meet the definition for of "Qualifications" in WV Code §18A-4-8b (for classifications working); demonstrated competency, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8e (state-approved competency test) as required.
- Employees will be paid at their regular classification rate or the rate for the classification in which they are performing an assignment from the contact list, whichever is higher. No employee is to experience a pay cut for working any additional hours.
- An agreement shall be initiated and executed in which the employee has to accept the opportunities and work 60% of their commitment, or they may be removed from the contact list. If the commitment needs to be revised due to changing conditions or individual availability, then those factors may be considered by HR.
- When employees are included after the initial contact lists are opted, those regular employees will be included (mixed-in) the contact list based their seniority outlined in Paragraph 4.
- Those on the contact list shall not accrue any type of seniority in the classification(s) when performing these additional work hours.
- The assignment awarded under the contact list will end when a substitute is available to take the assignment. Efforts shall be made on a continuing basis to offer the assignment awarded.
- All regular employees shall be required to actually work his/her regular assignment without conflict when accepting an assignment from the contact list.
- Timesheets will be completed and submitted to payroll for pay.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members. Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress and work effectively with others including demonstrating behavior that reflects established professional responsibilities (i.e., attendance, punctuality, professional dress, and verbal/nonverbal communication); and developing a positive relationship with students, staff, and community.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. A successful work history and a minimum of three supervisory references required for consideration.
