Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate -Career Services will support Goodwill Industries of San Antonio by providing information regarding Goodwill’s programs, community resources, and job search services to program participants and the general public. The Career Services Associate works in collaboration with the Career Services Specialist in support of our mission of providing transformational career services, including providing job leads, job search activities, computer navigation assistance, resume development, and referrals to Career Services Specialist for coordinated services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Upholds and models Goodwill's mission, core values, and servant leadership philosophy.
- Delivers excellent customer service. Greets visitors via phone and in person at the career services site; educates visitors, prospective clients and community partners on available services and programs and recruits into appropriate service tracks.
- Registers program participants in Goodwill’s Client Management System and tracks job search and training activities.
- Schedules program participants to meet with the Career Services Specialist for the development of career search action plans and/or finding solutions for individual clients’ social/personal barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.
- Manages the self-service computer lab and assists clients with accessing and utilizing technological equipment such as computer, telephone, fax machine and copier.
- Abiding by proctoring guidelines, schedules and proctors assessments for the digital literacy training program, communicating assessment results and client status to the Program Coordinator.
- Helping to reach our mission of providing transformational career services, assist program participants under the guidance of the Career Service Specialist in resume development, completion of applications, and performs mock interviews to support interview readiness.
- Refers clients to Career Services Specialist as needed for addressing work search action plans and/or finding solutions for individual clients’ social/personal barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.
- Collaborate with Career Services Specialist and Business Relations Coordinator to source viable leads for clients. Promoting employer partners leads to the general public, screens for matches against caseload, and makes referrals for consideration.
- Provide supervision and support to program participants including the completion and submission of timekeeping records to sponsor agencies.
- Documents all client services, including outreach, in Goodwill’s Client Management system, ensuring data fidelity for all stakeholders.
- Generate caseload and coordinated services reports, and other reporting as needed, communicating the results during staff meetings.
- Adhere to, and ensure adherence to, all Loss Prevention and inventory control and compliance, risk management, and ethics policies and procedures. Safeguard donations and all Goodwill property and resources; secure from harm, theft, accidental loss, or disposal
- To accommodate business needs and objectives, other duties may be assigned by leadership.
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s Degree Equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
- Ability to provide excellent service to a diverse client base; ability to provide basic technical support and problem-solving assistance to users to facilitate the use of technological equipment; ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions; ability to work independently; ability to accurately enter data and file information.
- Experience working successfully in a fast-paced customer service or office environment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple constituencies to achieve mission goals.
- Intermediate skills in MS Office Word, PPT, Excel, and people services databases; basic knowledge of troubleshooting hardware and software problems; knowledge of Internet applications.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
