The Valley Imports Parts Department is looking for an energetic and detail-oriented team player to join our parts team. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with one Saturday per month. An ideal candidate must be comfortable with answering and making outbound sales calls to customers. Pay is $50k-$70k DOE. The Parts Consultant is responsible for the inventory of the parts department as well as maintaining knowledge of automotive systems and informing customers of basic technical information on their vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)
Education and/or years’ experience required:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience with automotive systems, vehicle maintenance, and automotive parts.
Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:
- A mechanic background is a plus but not required.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with automotive systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret parts catalogs and schematics.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable):
- No supervisory responsibilities required for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITES
- Assist customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
- Order and purchase automotive parts; verify parts numbers from appropriate catalogs; prepare purchase request.
- Contact vendors for ordering parts.
- Check all incoming purchases against invoices, stock supplies in appropriate bins.
- Communicate with customers on parts and/or service needed or in progress.
- Inform customers of companion part requirements.
- Answer phone calls, respond to email, and online platforms providing price quotes and other information.
- Help customers identify and find needed replacement parts.
- Read catalogs to determine new parts on market.
- Order new parts from catalog as needed.
- Promote sales of correct auto parts to repair customer issues with the vehicle in-store and keep an up-to-date record of all transactions made.
- Follow prescribed cash, credit and check processing procedures for merchandise, as per company policy.
- Visit with assigned customers and prospect for new customers.
- Check with customers to ensure delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable before ordering.
- Keep customers up to date on the whereabouts of backordered products and products out for delivery.
- Adhere to work schedule and maintain regular attendance.
- Performs Wallwork Inc.-wide duties as requested by the designated supervisor.
