We are looking for a passionate Research Team Manager to lead our multidisciplinary “Grid Management & Optimization” research team at the Central European Hitachi Energy Research Center in Mannheim, Germany.
Your team is focused on interdisciplinary research in the areas of power systems, mathematical optimization, data science, and more.
How you’ll make an impact
You are a leader:
Set clear goals and priorities for the team, ensuring alignment with the overall research strategy of the center. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and innovation, supporting your team in staying at the forefront of technological advancements
Recruit new staff members, mentor team personnel to facilitate their professional growth, and guide project leaders in the effective execution of research and development initiatives
Represent the research function at the Mannheim site, maintain clear communication with the team and local partner, and ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations
You are impactful:
Foster the creation of new research project proposals and strategic research initiatives
Contribute to an innovative and motivating working environment within our research center and globally within Hitachi Energy Research Center
You foster collaboration:
Maintain and extend an excellent network to relevant business units and leading universities
Promote collaboration between the German and Swiss sites of the Central European Research Center, and with all Hitachi Energy Research Centers
You contribute:
Contribute to research projects and pre-studies with your own experience and scientific expertise
Your background
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Technical expertise in one or more of the areas power systems, energy management systems, mathematical optimization and interest in new fields of research and technology
Several years of experience and proven track record in industrial R&D
Fluency in English (written and oral), German min. B2 level
